401 — Washington Park Loop (Paved Road)

A beautiful loop walk around Washington Park, offering spectacular views of forests, bluffs and the San Juan Islands without too much effort. Rated moderate, the route is a gentle, paved roadway with a slight uphill slope, making it perfect for those wanting to enjoy a slower pace. Highlights include gorgeous views, geologic features, history, flora and fauna. Meet your leaders-

Former teachers, Terri and Dave Bawden walk every day, rain or shine.  Whether along the waterfront, in the forest, on cobblestone streets in foreign countries or just around the neighborhood, walking is their favorite exercise.

Rating: Moderate. Walk a paved road but some steeper gains total 225-foot gain/loss.
Meeting Point: Washington Park Main Parking Lot: Follow Oakes Avenue West from Anacortes center. Continue straight at round-about, at the “Y” continue straight onto Sunset Avenue (do NOT veer right). Once on Sunset continue ¾ mile to Washington Park. Turn right into the first parking area. Look for temporary WalkFest signs.
