202 — Distinctive Loop of Mt. Erie, Trail 247

A “road less travelled” in the Anacortes Community Forest Lands (ACFL), this hidden gem of a trail offers varied terrain and a great workout as you circumnavigate Mt. Erie. Why just look out from the summit view when you can walk the whole mountain? Trail 247 is known to insiders for its lush forest and the history of conservation and land access/acquisition on the edges of the ACFL in this outing. If blue skies allow, spot Mt. Rainier on the southern horizon. Meet your leaders-

Lin Nichols, an enthusiastic hiker & trail runner, has traversed all the trails in the ACFL. Enjoys motivating her companions with humor through all types of conditions. 

Jean Ford Andrich, a life-long Anacortes native, explored local trails before the ACFL was created. Avid hiker and backpacker who loves sharing her passion for the woods.

Rating: Hard, good paths but many ups and downs. Hidden corner of the ACFL.
Meeting Point: Mt. Erie Trailhead: From Commercial Avenue in Anacortes, go west on 32nd St.; left on H Ave which becomes Heart Lake Road. From the turn go 2 miles turn left onto Ray Auld Drive. Go ~400’ to parking lot for Mt. Erie.
