Verdant old-growth forests, the canopy of green and lake views create gorgeous scenes on this walk at the center of the Anacortes Community Forest Lands. Watch for squirrels, woodpeckers, frogs and more along the way. Keep an eye out for vibrant wildflowers, if nature cooperates. Meet your leader-

Rating: Moderate, relatively modest elevation ups and downs.
Meeting Point: Heart Lake main parking lot: From Commercial Ave. in Anacortes, go west on 32nd St.; left on H Ave which becomes Heart Lake Road. Go south past several small trail turnouts to the main Heart Lake lot on the right.
