207 — Sharpe Park-Montgomery-Duban Headlands — Stunning terrain with coastal views

Your treat here is a pair of high coastal headland vantage points with far-ranging views. On top, to the far southwest (sunshine permitting), you’ll enjoy the immersive views of the snow-capped summits of the Olympics. Closer at hand are Lopez and Decatur Islands, with the outlines of San Juan Island and Vancouver Island in the distance. Lots of up and down; bring walking sticks. Meet your leaders-

Bob Vaux, 36+ years working in local parks. While at Skagit County, Bob and team completed purchase of the Montgomery-Duban Headlands, now a key part of Sharpe Park.

Rating: Hard with some narrow footpaths on a 440-foot gain/loss.
Meeting Point: Sharpe Park:from Anacortes, take 12th Street west to D Avenue. Turn left (south) on D, go 5.5 miles, road name changes to 37th Street to A Avenue to Havekost to Rosario road. Sharpe Park Parking lot on your right. 14692 Rosario Road.
